1,2Are you a proactive and result-driven Category Manager ready to start a new chapter? Do you want to write history and take part in the green energy transition? Here is a unique opportunity for you!

Your position

As Category Manager, Indirect Spend at Semco Maritime's head quarter in Esbjerg, you will lead category strategies for facility management, professional services, travel, furniture & decorations, office supplies, fleet & transportation, and support to group support functions. Your role involves negotiating with suppliers, driving cost savings, and fostering a sustainable supply chain. With strong communication skills and a proactive mindset, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize the indirect spend category while embodying Semco Maritime's values.

Your tasks & responsibilities

You will be an integral member of the Procurement Center of Excellence, as well as the Global Procurement Community consisting of more than 35 colleagues.

As a Category Manager for indirect spend, your role entails optimizing expenditure within designated categories. You'll negotiate agreements, manage supplier relationships, and oversee the procurement to pay process. Additionally, you'll collaborate with internal stakeholders to align purchasing strategies with business objectives. Analysing cost trends and implementing cost-saving initiatives are also crucial responsibilities. Overall, your aim is to drive efficiency and maximize value within indirect procurement categories.

Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas like facility management, professional services, travel etc.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate with suppliers for favourable pricing and terms.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and offer strategic procurement assistance.
  • Conduct market analysis and supplier evaluations to identify and assess potential suppliers.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance.
  • Lead initiatives for a sustainable supply chain.
  • Contribute to master data management efforts.
  • Ensure the procurement to pay procedure is followed for relevant spend categories.

Your profile & qualifications

You demonstrate ambition, drive, and self-motivation, effectively influencing your environment to accomplish overarching objectives. Ideally, you have at least 2 years of experience in Strategic Procurement or a related commercial field, with the desire to grow into a category manager role. While it is helpful, experience in indirect spend activities isn’t required.
You have the tact to work in a dynamic international corporation, along with a global mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, both internally across different functions/cultures and externally with suppliers. You're positive, proactive, and a team player, capable of working independently, with strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have:
  • Good Danish and English skills – both oral as well as written
  • Cooperative, proactive and with a mind-set of improving business to reduce risk and add value.
  • Ensure the right prices, terms, and conditions from suppliers.
  • Establish good connections with internal customers to the indirect spend role.

Your place of work will be at our Global HQ located in Esbjerg, the hub of the Danish energy industry, right on the waterfront – views do not get any better than this. The position is full-time.
